Co-operation Ombudsman ORI

Last sneak peak of #KerjasamaIndonesiaBelanda on rule of law before the #INLU2018 starts tomorrow! The Ombudsman of the Netherlands and Indonesia have a longstanding relation of collaboration. This month a new collaboration is starting to help the Indonesian Ombudsman to introduce the Fair Treatment Process in their work. The approach is based on the experiences of the Ombudsman and government agencies in the Netherlands, where it has proven to be effective in engaging the complainants and improving acceptance of the outcomes of Ombudsman mediation. It can also be particularly useful for sensitive and complex issues. In the coming years, the Indonesian Ombudsman will learn about the approach in the Netherlands through various ways, and determine how a similar approach can be applied in Indonesia. The program is a collaboration of the Indonesian Ombudsman with the Netherlands Ombudsman, the Free University Amsterdam, the Centre for Conflict Mediation (Centrum voor Conflicthantering) and Van Vollenhoven Institute, funded through the Netherlands Rule of Law Fund for Indonesia, managed by the International Development Law Organisation (IDLO).
